Acupuncture & Pain Relief

A natural therapy refined over thousands of years

By inserting fine needles into specific acupoints, acupuncture promotes meridian flow and balances qi and blood to effectively address pain and a wide range of conditions. Side effects are minimal, and it pairs well with herbal medicine and cupping.

Virtually zero side effects

Living with Pain Shouldn't Be Your Normal

Pain during the day, pain at night, painkillers barely taking the edge off — you might have accepted this as 'just how it is'. But pain can be managed. Our practitioners specialise in acupuncture combined with manual techniques to help you regain a normal life, step by step.

How Acupuncture Works

1

Consultation & Assessment

Our practitioner conducts a full assessment using the four diagnostic methods — observation, listening, inquiry, and pulse-taking — to understand your constitution and symptoms.

2

Precise Point Selection

Based on the diagnosis, we select acupoints along the meridians that correspond to your specific condition, maximising treatment effectiveness.

3

Needle Treatment

Using sterile, single-use ultra-fine needles, insertion is gentle and precise. Most patients feel only mild tingling — the process is comfortable and safe.

Understanding Qi and Meridians

"Qi" is the subtle vital substance flowing throughout the body and powering its functions. "Meridians" are the pathways through which qi circulates.

Think of Qi as bus passengers and meridians as bus routes. When a stop gets 'congested', passengers can't reach their destination and the body experiences discomfort. Acupuncture clears these blockages so Qi and blood flow freely again.

What to Know About Acupuncture

During acupuncture, you may experience sensations such as redness, swelling, warmth, aching, soreness, numbness, distension, or tingling — these are all normal needle responses. Our practitioners adjust technique and needle count based on your condition to keep things comfortable.

During acupuncture, if a capillary is punctured it may cause minor bruising — this typically fades within a day or two. We do our best to avoid blood vessels, but puncturing tiny capillaries is sometimes unavoidable. If you experience any discomfort, contact your practitioner to discuss bruise-relief methods. The plan will also be adjusted at your next visit.

Pregnant women, those with low platelet counts, or anyone on blood thinners need a special assessment. Let us know your situation when booking — your practitioner will determine the safest approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

TCM acupuncture is a commonly used treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of Qi (vital energy) and blood and balance the meridian system. When Qi and blood are blocked or imbalanced, it may lead to pain or other health issues, and acupuncture helps restore balance by promoting circulation.
TCM acupuncture offers a wide range of benefits, including relieving neck and back pain, reducing joint pain and muscle tension, improving headaches and migraines, relieving stress and fatigue, enhancing sleep quality, and regulating digestive function, making it a holistic therapy beyond pain relief.
Acupuncture is particularly suitable for treating various types of pain such as neck pain, lower back pain, and joint pain, and a TCM practitioner will assess your condition through consultation and physical evaluation to create a personalized treatment plan to relieve pain and improve mobility.
Acupuncture needles are extremely fine, and most people only feel a slight prick along with sensations such as soreness, numbness, heaviness, or distension, known as “Deqi,” which is a normal and usually mild response, and practitioners will adjust techniques based on individual sensitivity.
Acupuncture is generally safe when performed by a qualified practitioner, with minimal side effects such as slight soreness, minor bruising, or temporary fatigue, which usually resolve on their own, and sterile single-use needles are used to ensure safety and hygiene.
The effectiveness of acupuncture varies by individual, with acute conditions often improving within 1 to 3 sessions, while chronic conditions usually require ongoing treatment, and the practitioner will adjust the plan based on your response.
The number of acupuncture sessions depends on individual condition and severity, with an initial recommendation of 1 to 2 sessions per week, followed by adjustments based on progress, and consistent treatment helps enhance results and prevent recurrence.
You can generally shower after acupuncture, but it is recommended to avoid immediate cold showers and prolonged bathing to allow the body to adapt and maintain the treatment。
Depending on the treatment area, appropriate arrangements will be made to ensure effectiveness and privacy.
Most patients can resume daily activities immediately, but intense exercise should be avoided to allow recovery.
