Your First Visit to Aspira TCM — Everything You Need to Know

From booking to treatment, five simple steps for a confident start

We understand that your first visit to a TCM clinic can raise many questions — what is the process like? Will it hurt? How much does it cost? This guide answers all your questions so you can walk in with confidence.

Your Visit in 5 Simple Steps

The entire first consultation takes about 45-60 minutes. Here is what to expect at each step:

1

Book via WhatsApp

Send us a WhatsApp message with a brief description of your symptoms, and our reception team will recommend a suitable practitioner and time slot. You can also call us at 9679 2293. The booking process usually takes less than 5 minutes.

2

Arrive at the Clinic

Aspira TCM is located in Lai Chi Kok, just a 3-minute walk from Lai Chi Kok MTR station. Upon arrival, our reception team will help you fill out a simple health questionnaire covering your basic information, medical history, and current concerns. We suggest arriving 10 minutes early to complete registration.

3

Consultation with Your Practitioner

Your practitioner will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and lifestyle in detail, then perform the traditional Four Examinations — observing your complexion and tongue, listening to your voice, asking detailed questions, and taking your pulse. This takes about 15-20 minutes. Feel free to share as much detail as possible — the more information, the more accurate the diagnosis.

4

AI-Assisted Analysis

Aspira TCM is the first TCM clinic in Hong Kong to integrate an AI-assisted diagnostic system. After the Four Examinations, the AI system analyses your constitutional data against an extensive TCM literature database to provide diagnostic references. This does not replace the practitioner's judgement — it adds an extra layer of confidence to ensure a more precise treatment plan.

5

Your Personalised Treatment Plan

Combining the Four Examinations and AI analysis, your practitioner will create a personalised treatment plan. They will clearly explain your diagnosis, recommended treatment methods (herbal medicine, acupuncture, tui na, etc.), estimated number of sessions, and fees. You are welcome to ask questions at any time — we believe open communication is the first step to effective treatment.

Pre-Visit Checklist

A little preparation goes a long way for a smooth first visit:

Wear Loose Clothing

Loose-fitting clothes allow easier access for acupuncture or tui na and keep you comfortable throughout the session.

Bring Your ID

We need to verify your identity for first-time registration and to set up your personal health record.

Bring Medical Reports

If you have blood test results, X-rays, or other medical reports, please bring them along. They help our practitioner gain a fuller picture of your health.

List Your Current Medications

Include Western medications, supplements, and vitamins. Our practitioner needs to know what you are taking to avoid potential interactions.

Eat 30 Minutes Before Your Visit

An empty stomach or a very full one can affect pulse accuracy. Have a light meal 30 minutes before your appointment and avoid coffee or strong tea.

Minimal Makeup for Facial Acupuncture

If you have booked a cosmetic acupuncture session, please come with minimal or no makeup so the practitioner can observe your facial meridians and apply needles effectively.

Frequently Asked Questions

TCM is effective for a wide range of conditions, including pain management, skin conditions, respiratory issues, gynaecological health, digestive problems, and general sub-health states. Our team of five registered TCM practitioners each specialises in different areas, and we match you with the most suitable practitioner. During your first visit, your practitioner will give an honest assessment of how TCM can help.Still have questions? WhatsApp us for free
Most people describe acupuncture as a 'dull ache' rather than pain. Acupuncture needles are much thinner than injection needles (about 0.25mm). You may feel a slight prick upon insertion, followed by a sensation of heaviness or tingling — this is known as 'de qi' and indicates the treatment is working. If it is your first time, let your practitioner know and they can start with fewer points.Still have questions? WhatsApp us for free
Honestly, herbal medicine does not taste like your favourite drink. However, Aspira TCM offers concentrated herbal granules — simply dissolve in warm water and drink. This is far more convenient than traditional boiling methods and the taste is milder. If you are particularly sensitive to taste, let your practitioner know and they will adjust the formula where possible without compromising efficacy.Still have questions? WhatsApp us for free
A first consultation typically takes 45-60 minutes, including the health questionnaire (about 10 minutes), practitioner consultation and Four Examinations (about 20 minutes), and treatment plan discussion (about 10 minutes). If you receive acupuncture or tui na on the same day, allow an additional 30-45 minutes. We recommend setting aside plenty of time so you do not feel rushed.Still have questions? WhatsApp us for free
Aspira TCM operates on a transparent pricing policy with consultation fees and medication costs listed separately. A typical internal medicine consultation with 3 days of herbal medicine costs approximately HK$280-400. Acupuncture fees vary depending on the treatment area and complexity. Your practitioner will explain all expected costs before treatment begins — no hidden charges. See our pricing page for full details.Still have questions? WhatsApp us for free
Yes. Aspira TCM accepts the Elderly Healthcare Voucher for patients aged 65 or above. The voucher can be used to pay for consultation fees and medication. Please bring your HKID card, and our reception team will assist with the voucher redemption process.Still have questions? WhatsApp us for free
The number of sessions depends on your condition. Common colds or acute symptoms may require just 1-3 visits; chronic conditions such as eczema, insomnia, or chronic pain typically require 4-8 sessions as one treatment course. Your practitioner will outline an estimated treatment plan during your first visit. For example, our Dr. Tai offers a three-visit effectiveness guarantee for cough treatment.Still have questions? Your practitioner will give you specific post-treatment advice. General guidelines include: avoid raw, cold, and spicy foods while taking herbal medicine; avoid strenuous exercise and swimming on the day of acupuncture; drink plenty of warm water after tui na to aid recovery. If you experience any discomfort after taking medication, contact us via WhatsApp immediately and your practitioner will respond as soon as possible.Still have questions? WhatsApp us for free

Transparent Pricing, Peace of Mind

We believe transparent pricing builds trust. All services at Aspira TCM are clearly priced, with consultation fees and medication costs listed separately. Factors that affect cost include: treatment type (herbal medicine, acupuncture, tui na, etc.), number of days of medication, and whether specialty herbs are required. Your practitioner will explain all expected costs before treatment begins, so you are fully informed.
