Key Precautions

Follow the medicine label

Take the medicine according to the frequency, dosage and timing advised by your practitioner. Do not adjust the dose or stop early on your own.

Use warm water

Chinese medicine is generally taken with warm water. Avoid taking it with tea, coffee, alcohol or iced drinks as they may affect absorption.

Follow dietary advice

During treatment, it is usually best to reduce cold, spicy, fried and overly sweet foods. Specific restrictions depend on your prescription.

Separate from other medicines

Tell your practitioner about Western medicines, supplements or proprietary Chinese medicines. A two-hour gap is often used, but individual advice comes first.

Store medicine properly

Keep medicine in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and out of reach of children.

Contact us if unwell

If you feel noticeably unwell after taking medicine, do not increase the dose yourself. Contact us by WhatsApp or phone for practitioner advice.

Tell Your Practitioner Before Taking Medicine

  • Western medicine, Chinese patent medicine, supplements or weight-loss products you are taking
  • Pregnancy, trying to conceive, breastfeeding or upcoming surgery
  • Previous drug or food allergies
  • Long-term conditions such as liver or kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or heart disease

Do Not Wait If These Happen

Seek urgent medical care if any of the following warning signs appear. Keep your medicine label or medicine details for healthcare staff.

  • Difficulty breathing, facial swelling or throat swelling
  • Severe rash, widespread itching or suspected allergic reaction
  • Persistent vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness or palpitations
  • Any uncertainty before taking medicine if pregnant, chronically ill or taking blood thinners
